It's Not Easy Being Green
Remember how, way back in the early days of Star Trek: Voyager fandom, Megan and Jenny Delaney from Stellar Cartography were branded the sluts of the ship for daring to enjoy sex? Right, so I'm having flashbacks. Only this time, it's Gaila who's being called names in the blogsphere for, well... enjoying casual sex as much as James T Kirk does. And dood, GAILA IS AWESOME.

I'm too swamped to write at the moment, but I'm definitely up for hosting a good ole fashioned Commentfic Extravaganza. So if you want to write a little something (drabble, snippet, epic poetry, knock yourself out!) about Cadet Gaila, go ahead and post it here.

This goes with oldskool canon. The "slaves only in name" is an innovation of Enterprise (which I don't consider oldskool) to make it at least vaguely PC to have Orion slave girls in an episode without dealing with the whole, you know, slave thing.

*waves hand*

Perhaps back in the era of Enterprise, its canon was true, but it was toward the end of an era. At some point between that era and the TOS era, there was some sort of revolt/ some dude figured out some way to counteract the pheremones, And the population retaliated, en masse, enslaving their former oppressors, managing to turn the pheremones back on the women, making them pliant instead of the other way around. And pimping them out.

Not a pretty scenario, but a lot can happen in several decades, with the right pharmaceutical innovations.
