and lo, there was geekage.

The last time I re-read Emma Bull's War for the Oaks, I had fun mentally "casting" a live-action film version. So clearly, Allison Mack would play Eddi, Jason Mamoa the Puca, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers Willy Silver, if fandom were in charge of the universe. I started playing with this wallpaper almost a year ago, and to blow off steam, finished it up tonight.

If you've never read it, I highly recommend checking it out. Along with Terri Windling's Bordertown series, and Charles de Lint's Newford series, it's one of the Grandmothers of the whole urban fantasy genre.

random claim to fame.
There was going to be a War for the Oaks movie at one point. They got partway through filming before they gave up.

I am an extra in a bar scene.

Re: random claim to fame.
I had always heard that what had been filmed was meant to be a proof of concept piece, designed to show around to studios and say "See? This is what we want to do!"

Of course, what I had always heard was at least third or fourth hand, so take that with a tanker truck of salt.
