and lo, there was geekage.

The last time I re-read Emma Bull's War for the Oaks, I had fun mentally "casting" a live-action film version. So clearly, Allison Mack would play Eddi, Jason Mamoa the Puca, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers Willy Silver, if fandom were in charge of the universe. I started playing with this wallpaper almost a year ago, and to blow off steam, finished it up tonight.

If you've never read it, I highly recommend checking it out. Along with Terri Windling's Bordertown series, and Charles de Lint's Newford series, it's one of the Grandmothers of the whole urban fantasy genre.

Other people over the years that I'd thought would have made a good Phouka, besides Patterson Joseph (who, when I first saw him in Neverwhere, I immediately said "Phouka!!!"):
John Leguizamo, Harold Perrineau... Can't think of any others off the top of my head, though.

Having watched the short on YouTube last night(http://youtube.com/watch?v=qCmgUccD71I), it occurs to me that the gentleman that they cast to play the Phouka in that does bear some resemblance to Patterson Joseph. For some reason, I think that I'd always thought that they were the same actor.

I'm curious to know who you'd cast as Hedge... Since I've always had kind of a connection to that character myself.

And I have NO idea who I'd cast as Edi these days, though I used to think that Lori Petty (Tank Girl) would have made a good choice.

Hedge is tough. You need a skinny kid with lots of hair who plays bass like a demon, and mumbles. I don't know if I cast it in my head at the time, but now I'm thinking Thomas Dekker, only with last year's hair.

Carla, however, is easy. Natalie Morales.
