and lo, there was geekage.

The last time I re-read Emma Bull's War for the Oaks, I had fun mentally "casting" a live-action film version. So clearly, Allison Mack would play Eddi, Jason Mamoa the Puca, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers Willy Silver, if fandom were in charge of the universe. I started playing with this wallpaper almost a year ago, and to blow off steam, finished it up tonight.

If you've never read it, I highly recommend checking it out. Along with Terri Windling's Bordertown series, and Charles de Lint's Newford series, it's one of the Grandmothers of the whole urban fantasy genre.

Oh, that's awesome -- fun casting, and totally gorgeous. War for the Oaks is one of my very favorite books (I think I own... maybe 4 copies of it? Including the screenplay).

I have the original paperback I bought in 1991, the reprint trade, and the screenplay. I may have had a loaner copy, but if I did, it's... erm... loaned out.
