Lovely in-character look at Harry trying to control the future, and give both his kids a chance.

I want a tiny plastic Valentine, please.

I've been fast-forwarding through bits of the making of special on the Labyrinth dvd (I miss Jim Henson liek whoa, listeing to him talk about this movie. Also, Bowie with the Jareth eye-makeup but regular Bowie hair amuses me) and desperately wishing I had Mirrormask right now this second. I could try and borrow the script book from someone, but it's just not the same.

I want to see Mirrormask over and over and over again. Went to the (alas, not so cheap) matinee at Century Mall this afternoon with [info]theroane and Alia, and unexpectedly ran into Dave Bell, who sat with us.

I barely breathed the entire time. Visually, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. And I adored the story (I fell madly in love with both Helena and Valentine--I giggled to bits when the male lead opened his mouth and out came this phenomenal Dublin accent. The words spoiler! ) will make me burst out laughing for the rest of my natural life, I think.) which had wonderful echoes of familiar things but was also an entirely new creature that is gonna take many repeat viewings I think to take it all in. It's not so much a good vs evil story. It's about family, and it's about balance, and it's about growing up, and it's about responsibility. Also, it has flying books, and lots and lots of sphinxes. And you knwo it must be cool when the clowns do not scare me (this is coming from someone terrified beyond all reason of clowns).

All I can say is, if you love Labyrinth run--do not walk--RUN to the closest city where it is playing and SEE THIS MOVIE. Seriously. DO not wait for it to go into wide release. If it is going to go into wide release, it'll be because people made the effort to visit far away places to plunk down their $8. It is SO WORTH IT.

And now, I must make icons. Many, many icons.
