They had me right up until it was revealed that Suzie was in fact a black-and-white no shades of grey cartoon villan who had concocted an elaborate plan over the course of 2 years to have herself resurrected using technology that in her lifetime had only ever been used to resurrect corpses for the space of 2 minutes. Strangely, they lost me at that point. Pity, too, cos I was sort of enjoying it up until that.

Oh, and in case you hadn't heard. Gwen is OMG THE BEST OF ALL OF THEM. Cos RTD and co tell us so! Despite the fact that she was, oh wait--bloody useless in this one.

*yawn*

Whatever.

And I am disappointed by the Ianto/Jack, for it came out of nowhere, and made no sense character-wise (mostly in terms of Ianto's manpain, which was totally non-present in this ep). And that saddens me. Because they had potential.

However, I would be infinitely cheered if Yasmin Bannerman as Swanson joined the cast. Because she had honest to God chemistry with Barrowman, and was by far the best thing in this episode so far as I'm concerned.

Poor Tosh. If Owen's the office bike, I'm sure she was certain if she just waited her turn, she'd get a free ride. But Gwen jumped the queue, the bitch.

And the song they use at the end?

"Gorecki" by Lamb. Coincidentially, I've not only had it on my Doctor Who series one mix, but I had a Nine/Rose vid-in-progress.

Dammit.

*sigh*

Oh well.

Word to hating the end with Suzie. I LOVED this episode, but I hated the turn they took with Suzie. It didn't even make sense. I think Gwen was a stand in for Rose here, honestly, and while it irked me that they had to Sue her up to do it, I still ship Nine/Jack/Rose so hard that I don't mind using Gwen to remind Jack of Rose.

Ianto/Jack... yeah. I feel like the idea is far better than the execution.

Am I the only one who hears Gorecki and ties it to LFN? I had such a deja-vu moment when I heard it and remembering my days in the Nikita fandom and realized that I like Torchwood for a lot of the same reasons I liked Nikita.

See? I was right! The crack came back at the end!

I'm not sure why I can keep watching Torchwood without a problem yet I haven't been able to touch the last two episodes of Robin Hood. Sigh.

I liked that Suzie had a great big whinge about Gwen and how everyone loved her and how great she is, because it contrasted rather nicely with what Gwen actually did in this episode, which was to play into Suzie's hands and mess up on a grand scale.

I love that song. I'm just glad it got some air play. Make the vid anyway! I'd watch it.

They retcon that a bit in the website, where Jack and Ianto have an IM conversation. In which, among other things, Jack point-blank asks why Ianto didn't try to use the glove on Lisa, which I thought was an interesting question.

What I want to know is how many people will be wearing "I have retcon in my blood!" buttons at the conventions now.

I really don't have anything to add. I liked the episode but I did have to force down a lot of "but..." responses (like how did Suzie know/think she might get resurrected for longer than two minutes; etc) - basically the suspension of disbelief level was very high.

I'm trying to like the show and it does have some good moments. It's also a bit of a mess. But then again I remember back to the the first half of season 1 of Stargate SG-1 which was iffy at times too.

Ok ok I *want* to really like Torchwood; but the sad truth it's the biggest disappointment for me this season. But I haven't given up on it yet.

And this would be that rare exception where I'm not sorry I read spoilers before seeing the ep, because now I can be prepared for the ending to disappoint me. *sigh*

You have no idea how totally suckered I was by seeing Indira Varma in the opening credits when I hadn't heard that she was going to be on the show, and then the red-herringness of it was brought home to me with a loud BANG. It was cheap, and it got me, and WAAAAAAAH. The one fly in the ointment that Rome is coming back muchmuch sooner than expected is that Niobe is dead and going to stay that way. *pout*

And now she's on some hospital show that looks positively dreadful, and I'm just not that much of a fangirl. :-/ Maybe she'll off herself there too, and get on something I want to watch...

:: does little dance :: <--- is awful of me. I should never be happy about people losing regular work. But it just looked SO bad.

I'm sorry they killed your girl!

Is ok. I'm just happily surprised to be seeing her again. (And glad to be forewarned about the ending, thus removing the danger of breaking things in my living room in disgust.)
