Not a Busman's Holiday
Fading Brightness (index only)

(I think I may be all fanfic covered OUT at the mo. And I had to switch computers this morning, cos my PC laptop is having weird problems with the screen fritzing out, not to mention 512 RAM is SO not enough to run PhotoShop CS2, apparently.)

Gorgeous, especially love the sunrise, yes.

512 RAM is SO not enough to run PhotoShop CS2, apparently.

Aye, I end up having to shut down everything else just to stop it freezing most o the time, forshame.
ljctaraljc on 17th January 2006 18:07 (UTC)
I may have to shell out $60 for another 512 of RAM soon.
ex_artbox613 on 16th January 2006 22:54 (UTC)
I love photoshop in any flavor, but it's such a system hog :-(
ljctaraljc on 17th January 2006 18:08 (UTC)
omg I had no idea. I'd used older versions for so long, and 512 was mroe than enough...
ex_artbox613 on 19th January 2006 11:02 (UTC)
ha! you can imagine how my 128MB grinds away then ;-)

Not for much longer, new pc arrives on Tuesday *crosses fingers* and then I might, just might, be able to photoshop AND check email at the VERY SAME TIME *gasp*

Lovely!

thanks!

These are wonderful! How did you do the console-type line effects?
ljctaraljc on 17th January 2006 18:09 (UTC)
there's a file I found at the OG fan art forum that has a bunch of the Gallifreyan line art. Then I just selected white and set it to different opacities over the various layers.

Link?

fan art forum.

Also, I got one off the CBC wallpaper here.

Ah; I see it requires registration before you can read, rather than registration before you can post. Which I'm not prepared to do at this point. Oh well, them's the breaks.

how come, if you don't mind my asking? OG is well worth joining, and the fan art thread in particular has some excellent resources.
Kathryn A: Doc8-time-and-tidekerravonsen on 18th January 2006 05:18 (UTC)
Well...
- I didn't want to have to join a forum just to check out a web page for a couple of items
- I didn't want to have to join a forum before I could see what it was like (it may suit you, but it might not suit me); it's kind of annoying to be forced to "buy a pig in a poke" so to speak
- I didn't really want to join another forum full stop; I'm on enough mailing lists and LJ communities as it is.
- Another ruddy user name and password to remember, another group I have to give an email address to (sigh)

The Outpost Gallifrey forum is sort of the centre of the fandom--and a lot of the writers on the current series post on the boards. I was actualkly surprised you weren't already a member. I've been having a blast in the fan art thread this week, and there's a thriving community of folks scanning and posting pics, creating fonts, and trading fannish resources. I actually got the biggest giggle when John Barrowman name-checked OG in the DVD commentaries. He's such a geeky fanboy!

Ah, but which fandom? All Who or just New Who? I mean, I thought rec.arts.drwho on Usenet was the centre of Doctor Who fandom... many years ago, anyway, before I left due to the high flame to content ratio...

I was actualkly surprised you weren't already a member.

I don't always have my finger on the pulse. In fact, I rarely do.

Hmmm. You tempt me. But I'd have to leave when they started showing the new season in the UK, because I really want to avoid spoilers, and no matter how well-intentioned people are, they will spoil. Even LJ is going to be bad, because people will go and make spoilery icons and use them willy-nilly...

I don't remember that bit... but he is, isn't he? As a contrast with Christopher Eccleston, who isn't.

Old Skool and new school. It's pretty much THE Whovian community. But it's segmented enough that you can find just teh bits you want to hang out in (and Shaun's very good about mainting strict spoiler rules). I personally stick to the fanfic and fan art threads, and read the news pages which are updated daily.
Kathryn A: Doc9-who-i-amkerravonsen on 18th January 2006 23:40 (UTC)
Okay, you convinced me. I've joined. Guess I'll probably have to wait a day or two before the manual approval happens. Look out for "kerravonsen" when it does. I figured it was easier to stick to the same username, even though it's not a Who-ish one. It's not like it's going to be a common one (Yeah, plenty of "Kerr Avon"s on the net, but no other "Kerr Avonsen"s as far as I know)
Kathryn A: Doc9-technical-wizkerravonsen on 19th January 2006 20:30 (UTC)
Okay, now I've joined, looked, got depressed at the brilliance of everyone else, and want to crawl into a hole. And I have no idea how many posts I'm going to have to search to find the Gallifreyan line art. (sigh) (later) Oh, I found it.

Again, they're so cool. Where do you get your stock photos from?
ljc: laintaraljc on 17th January 2006 18:06 (UTC)
I use usually use http://images.google.com to find raw pics. I steal shamelessly for fanart (tho I pay for stock when I'm doing pro work, obviously. Usually royalty-free stock from photodisc).
